The mission of the Research Department Agricultural Economics is state-of-the-art knowledge generation in agricultural economics and management that applies suitable cutting-edge methodological instruments for the analysis of and responses to real-world challenges. The Research Department Agricultural Economics is therefore committed to excellence in research and teaching in a global environment.

Our research provides an applied economics and management perspective connecting the life sciences from the resource base through agricultural production, processing, marketing, and consumption to environmental, nutritional, health, and social outcomes, and their evaluation. Decision making and human behavior applied to issues related to agriculture are at the center of our analyses, collaborating with other social sciences, including sociology and psychology. Our analyses also cover the governing bodies, institutions, and policies that regulate and control these market and non-market interactions.
