Each year most of the different IFSA Regions invite to a regional meeting for the LC members in this region for several days. Those meetings aim to discuss regional topics and trends as well as to promote the cohesion and effectiveness of IFSA work within the region. In 2011 the Southern European Regional Meeting takes place in Freising, Germany.

We plan to discuss topics in forestry, to offer different workshops and to visit sites in Bavaria with representatives of our University. At the same time the Northern European Regional Meeting takes place in Tharandt, Germany. The final of both will be an - what we might call "ERM" - the chance for both the Northern and the Southern European Region to get together.

The Forest Engineering Conference (FEC), an international event held every four years, is a forum for forest engineers from around the world to share their knowledge, experience, and emerging ideas. The stewardship of the FEC lies with the international forest engineering community as a whole and this is evident since South Africa will be the fourth nation to host the FEC in as many events.

The Congress title for the XXIII IUFRO World Congress, "Forests for the Future: Sustaining and the Environment," will provide the basis for the program scope and format.

The International Forestry Students' Symposium (IFSS) is the biggest IFSA event in the year. Each year, it is hosted by a different country with a different main topic of discussion. This year's topic is "Forest for Sustainable Society and Environment".

Given the critical shortage of graduates in agricultural and natural sciences, you are invited to help bridge the gap by participating in the first of a series of national summits hosted by APLU's Academic Programs Section aimed at transforming agricultural and natural resource education. This two-day summit will focus on strategies to increase the supply of qualified graduates and will feature Jean Twenge, author of Generation Me.

The Week of Conferences brings together IROICA, AGRIMBA and SILVA as ICA's Standing Committees for their annual meetings. The week will be brought to a conclusion with the ICA-ECHAE Conference as a central event which will address Bologna Declaration 10 years on - Promising and delivering quality in Life Science education.
