PhD students

Ute Haedke
Ute Haedke - studied Biochemistry at University of Potsdam, Germany (02-08). For her diploma thesis she went to the Laboratory of Dr. Monique Lavialle (INRA Jouy-en-Josas, France) where she worked on the development of a method to measure the influence of polyunsaturated fatty acids on glucose uptake by astrocytes and established a blood-brain barrier model. Since October 2008, she works as a PhD student in the Verhelst Laboratory.
Research interests: solid phase synthesis of activity based probes, intramembrane proteases, enzyme analysis, cell culture.
Other interests: swimming, cycling tours, cooking.
Eliane Wolf
Eliane Küttler - obtained her Bachelors degree in Molecular Biotechnology from the Technische Universität Dresden (BSc, 04-08) and her Masters degree in Molecular Biotechnology at the Technische Universität München with a major in protein biochemistry and protein engineering as well as food biotechnology. From November 2010 she works on her PhD in the Verhelst Laboratory.

Sevnur Serim
Sevnur Serim - studied Chemistry at the Technical University of Istanbul, Turkey (00-04).  She received her Master’s degree at the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany (05-08). For her Master thesis (Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Cell Surface Glycoconjugates) she worked in the Laboratory of Dr. Jürgen Seibel. In January 2009 she joined the Verhelst Laboratory as a PhD student.
Research Interests: Solution and solid phase peptide synthesis, activity based probes, click chemistry.
Other interests: travelling, swimming, spinning.
Oliver Vosyka Oliver Vosyka - studied Biology at Ludwigs-Maximilians-Universität München (02-07). He performed the work for his diploma thesis (Characterization of A. thaliana cell culture and establishment of MALDI mass spectrometry, 2007) in the Laboratory of Prof. Dr. Lutz Eichacker (LMU). Since August 2008, he holds a PhD position in the Laboratory of Dr. Steven Verhelst.
Research interests: membrane proteomics, mass spectrometry, intramembrane proteases.
Other interests: Playing drums in a Rock Band, listening to music, cycling tours.

Eliane Küttler - studied Molecular Biotechnology at the Technische Universität Dresden (04-08) and is currently studying for her Master's degree in Molecular Biotechnology at the Technische Universität München with a major in protein biochemistry and protein engineering as well as food biotechnology. She joined the Verhelst Laboratory in November 2009 for her Master's thesis.
Emel Diraz - worked in our lab as an Erasmus-exchange student during her Biology Masters in Turkey.
Sandra Frommel - joined our lab for a Bachelor's thesis during her biology studies at the TU Munich.
